Career & Technical Education
Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides opportunities for students to gain knowledge and skills they may use in high school, college, a career after graduation, and/or a financial means to help further their education. CTE blends academics and career skills to produce well-rounded graduates.
Plano Independent School District has implemented an education system designed to prepare all students for a lifetime of success through informed educational choices. The initiative is based on the belief that the curricula of the 21st century should combine rigorous academics with relevant career and technical education. The system facilitates a seamless transition (beginning 8th grade) from secondary to postsecondary utilizing the nationally recognized Career Clusters. There are models (Programs of Study) within each Career Cluster that recommend the sequence of coursework based on a student’s interest or career goal.
